Mixed-use shops and housing scheme proposed in south Armagh village

Bid for outline approval submitted to NMD Council

Whitecross

A new mixed use retail and housing development could be in the pipeline at a south Armagh village.

Outline planning approval is being sought for an ambitious scheme at a development site in Whitecross.

It would consist of two shop units being built.

And, at first floor level, two apartments would be constructed.

Next to the retail development, a further three townhouses have been proposed.

The site in question is adjacent to Drumleacht Court and north of the Tullyah Road.

Parking would be provided to the rear of the development.

An application for the scheme – in the name of Margaret Nugent – has been submitted to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council for consideration.

It is due to be publicly advertised next week.

If outline approval is granted, the applicant would then proceed to seek full approval, at which stage more detailed design information on the proposals would be required.
