Man arrested on attempted murder after shots fired at house in south Armagh

A man has been arrested on attempted murder after shots were fired at a house in Cullyhanna last month.

Detectives investigating the report of a shooting incident in the Cloghoge Road area of Cullyhanna on the evening of Wednesday, 21 February have arrested a 33-year-old man.

He has been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and grievous bodily harm.

He remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Bell Would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or anyone who has information that would assist with police enquiries to contact Detectives at Ardmore on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1560 21/02/18.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.

A woman and her 22-year-old son were inside at the time. Nobody was injured.
