Man abducted from home, assaulted and dumped at yard close to border

Man was left 'very shaken' by the ordeal

A man was abducted from his Dundalk home and driven to a yard close to the border where he was physically attacked by up to four men.

The 36-year-old man was also sprayed with an unknown substance as he was bundled into the back of his van before being driven to the location close to Forkhill in Co Armagh.

The incident happened on Thursday evening just after 5pm.

Gardai in Dundalk confirmed that the victim was confronted along the Bellewsbridge Road by four men wearing balaclavas and gloves.

The vehicle stopped at a yard where the man was then threatened and physically assaulted, causing injuries to his arm.

The men then fled the scene in another vehicle.

A garda spokesman said the victim was ‘understandably very shaken’ by the ordeal.
