Slieve Gullion Area Councillor Mickey Larkin has confirmed that road resurfacing works along the Edenappa Road are now completed.
The Sinn Féin elected representative explained: “The Edenappa Road in the village has been in a terrible state for a number of years. Kerbs were broken, the surface was rough and uneven and in places it appeared to be sinking. After our persistent lobbying the Main Street was resurfaced two years ago.
“However due to the hiatus in funding, work on the Edenappa was delayed.
“I continued to liaise with local management in the Department to ensure that Jonesborough stayed on their radar and following the release of more funding by Minister Chris Hazzard the work has now been completed”.
The local Councillor concluded by stating: “Local residents are delighted with the quality of work carried out with new kerbs and sections of pavement along the road. I would like to thank both Transport NI and the contractors for their efforts. It has really made a difference to this part of the village.”
