A police operation which resulted in the evacuation of residents from their homes in Culloville on Monday was declared a false alarm.
A major operation unfolded when “suspected historic munitions” were discovered in the Fane Grove area of the village.
Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy said the incident caused “serious disruption to the lives of local residents”.
Inspector Heatley said: “Ammunition Technical Officers were tasked and the objects were deemed as nothing untoward.
“Residents have been allowed to return to their homes and we would like to thank them for their co-operation during this time.”
