
Major Investigation Team detectives have been granted an extension of 24-hours to question a 67-year-old man arrested as part of a murder investigation in Crossmaglen.
Michael McConville (74) was found dead in a house in the Annaghmare Road area of the town on Saturday evening, June 15.
He was discovered in the bathroom of his house by a neighbour who became concerned after the pensioner failed to answer the door.
He was officially named by police on Monday, with Detective Chief Inspector Anthony Kelly saying: “He was located in a bathroom with serious head injuries – believed to have been caused by a weapon.”
The 67-year-old man, who is local to the area, has been arrested in connection with the suspected murder.
On Tuesday, detectives had been granted a 36-hour extension to question the suspect.
