The torching of a car in a south Armagh housing estate has been branded a “totally reckless act”.
The vehicle was gutted after being set on fire in the Rathview Park area of Crossmaglen.
The actions of those responsible have been slammed by a local councillor who said the community did not want this type of activity in its midst.
Sinn Fein’s Aoife Finnegan said: “Those responsible have shown no regard for the safety of the local community in carrying out this reckless act.
“There can be no reason to justify burning the car.
“Regardless of the motivation, their actions are only increasing tensions and causing fear.
“Those living in Rathview and the wider Crossmaglen community do not want this type of anti social criminality taking place.”
The local representative said she had now requested for the burned out shell of the vehicle to be removed “as soon as possible”.
