Withdrawal statement explored in alleged revenge porn case

A prosecuting lawyer explained she has been made aware of a withdrawal statement but has not yet seen this

A withdrawal statement is understood to have been made by the alleged injured party is a case of alleged revenge porn and harassment.

The charges had due to be contested next month.

Denvir Gardiner (31) from Churchview Close, Kilkeel, is accused of disclosing a private sexual photograph or film of a female to cause her distress as well as pursuing a course of conduct amounting to harassment.

Offending is alleged to have occurred on December 7, last year.

Gardiner denies the charges.

However, at the most recent sitting of Craigavon Magistrates’ Court, a prosecuting lawyer explained she has been made aware of a withdrawal statement but has not yet seen this.

She requested some time to have this looked into as it may affect the case going forward.

District Judge Francis Rafferty agreed and adjourned the case for an update on July 26.
