Teenager (14) to appear in court after major emergency operation at Co Armagh school

A teenage boy will appear in court on Wednesday after triggering a full-scale alert at a Co Armagh school earlier today (Tuesday).

The 14-year-old will appear before Craigavon Magistrates’ charged with possessing an article with a blade in a public place, threats to kill and resisting police.

The youngster was arrested close to Lismore Comprehensive School in Craigavon shortly after 2pm today, following an emergency operation, which saw the police helicopter deployed to the area.

Speaking earlier today Chief Inspector Jon Burrows praised the response of the school “who worked promptly to resolve this situation and ensure pupil, staff and community safety”.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
