Teenage girl charged after 15-year-old left fighting for life after being stabbed in the neck

She will remain in custody to appear in court on Monday charged with GBH with intent

A teenage girl has been charged after a 15-year-old girl was left fighting for her life after being stabbed in the neck.

The incident happened in the Dean’s Walk area of Lurgan at around 9pm on Friday night.

The PSNI in Craigavon has now confirmed that a 14-year-old girl has been charged tonight (Saturday).

She has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

The girl will remain in custody and is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning.

As is normal procedure, all charges are reviewed by the PPS.

The PSNI have praised the medics who came to the young girl’s aid.

She remains in a critical condition.

Police are also continuing to appeal for witnesses.

A spokesperson said: “We would like to thank those who have been in touch so far, and encourage those who haven’t to do so, as this investigation is far from over.

“We would also like to thank the off duty medic who’s early intervention last night was potentially life saving.

“We see the absolute commitment from our NHS colleagues every day and this is yet another example of their life saving work, for which we all owe them our gratitude.”
