PSNI police van

Police are currently in attendance at a security alert in the Pinebank area of Craigavon.

The alert was sparked following the discovery of a suspicious object in the area this morning, Sunday, May 10.

A number of homes have been evacuated and a section of Pinebank has been closed to traffic.

Police would urge members of the public to remain vigilant and if they come across anything suspicious, or that looks out of the ordinary, not to touch it and to report it to police immediately on 101.

There are no further details available at this time.

SDLP councillor Thomas Larkham commented: “I have made contact with the PSNI to establish the nature of the situation and at this time it is believed to be a suspicious device.

“These times are difficult enough without criminal activity being placed upon our community.

“Anyone with information about this despicable incident – please contact the PSNI or Crimestoppers.”
