Students sent home from Co Armagh school because of power cut

A power cut has left one school in Craigavon unable to provide dinner this afternoon (Tuesday).

Lismore Comprehensive has forced their students to go home early following a power outage in the area.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Due to electric power cuts and not being able to provide dinner facilities this afternoon we regret to inform that all students will need to go home early.

“Relevant transport authorities have been contacted and students needing transport are to make their way to junior gym and await their bus.

“Students who walk home are allowed to leave.”

It remains unclear home many homes and businesses are without power in the area but Ni Electricity contractors are currently working on the problem.

However, power is expected to return before 3.30pm.
