Shameless vandals target Christmas tree week after hundreds turn out for festive switch-on

The Brownlow Christmas tree has been vandalised just days after hundreds turned out to celebrate the festive switch-on.

The shameless vandals have ripped the lights from the large tree in Craigavon overnight.

SDLP councillor Thomas Larkham has reported the incident to Council officers.

“I am sorry to have to report but it has been confirmed that vandals have damaged the Christmas tree lights in Brownlow,” he said.

“This is totally shameful and disrespectful and actions such as this are spoiling the festive cheer for the entire community given the fact there was such a positive atmosphere at the Christmas event just last week.

“Unfortunately, the tree will be without lights until new ones are ordered in – if they are available. Council are working to have them replaced as soon as possible.

“I hope those responsible are caught and I would appeal to anyone with information to pass it to the PSNI on 101.”
