New Coronation Bursary Scheme open to teenagers across ABC district

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is accepting applications for a range of community grants programmes designed to support local communities in delivering projects, programmes and events across the borough, and to recognise individual achievement.

Among the funding available is a new Coronation Bursary Scheme, open for nominations from schools and colleges. Twenty bursary awards of up to £500 each will be granted to young people aged 15-19 years who have demonstrated exceptional qualities beyond academic achievement such as overcoming adversity, promoting respect and understanding and supporting others.

Lord Mayor Alderman Stephen Moutray said: “We are delighted to introduce the Coronation Bursary Scheme to our local schools and colleges. This is an exciting opportunity to recognise the endeavours of young people that go beyond academic results, showcasing exemplary qualities such as resilience, integrity, kindness and ambition.

“This award will provide a welcome financial contribution to support young people and their ongoing development. I encourage schools and colleges to submit applications for this new bursary scheme.”

Other funding programmes now open for applications include the Large Capital Project Fund, Small Capital Project Fund and the new Events Equipment Grant.

Capital Grants are open to community groups with projects located in the ABC borough that meet programme objectives. These grants can help fund equipment purchases, technical assistance, building costs and other fixed asset projects.

The new Events Equipment Grant is a fully funded grant of up to £5000 to support community or voluntary sector groups delivering community events within the borough, for the purchase of specific items including crowd control barriers, staging, generators, marquees and more.

Applications open online at 9:00am on Monday 12 January 2026. For more information and guidance notes, visit: www.armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk/fundingabc
