Motorcyclist in serious condition following collision with car in Craigavon

A motorcyclist is in a serious condition in hospital following a collision with a car in Craigavon on Wednesday afternoon.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of careless driving causing grievous bodily injury following the crash on the Drumgask Road shortly before 5pm.

Police are investigating the collision which involved involving a silver Volkswagen Polo car and a black Honda motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital where his condition is being described as serious.

The teenager arrested has been released on bail pending police enquiries.

A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 16.45 on Wednesday, 16 September, following reports of a two vehicle RTC at Willowfield Crescent, Craigavon.

“NIAS despatched two Emergency crews and one Officer to the scene. The charity Air Ambulance with HEMs crew on board was also tasked to the incident.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage is asked to contact officers at Lurgan on 101 quoting reference number 1474 16/09/20.
