Marcell Seeley Murder: Mark Ward sentenced to minimum of 16 years in prison

A convicted killer has been sentenced to at least 16 years in prison for the brutal murder of county Armagh man Marcell Seeley.

Mark Ward, from Drumellan Gardens in Moyraverty, was convicted by a jury of murdering Marcell ‘Junior’ Seeley back in June.

This afternoon, almost two years to the day after the murder in the victim’s Lurgan flat, Ward was sentenced.

He will serve at least 16 years before he is eligible for parole.

Mr Seeley was found dead by his sister in the living room two days after the attack which took place on Sunday, October 11, 2015.

The 34-year-old was found with fatal head injuries which produced both swelling and bleeding to the brain.

The father-of-four also suffered two fractured ribs, a fracture to a bone just above his voice box and a shoulder injury.
