Man banned from driving for 12 months because of modifications to car

A man has been banned from driving for 12 months after making modifications to his car.

The 23-year-old, of Granville Gardens, Craigavon, appeared before Magistrates’ on Friday charged with being the owner of a vehicle which failed to comply with road requirements.

The defendant was stopped by police on June 9, last year, driving a Volkswagen Jetta on the Carrickblacker Road, Portadown.

Inspection of the vehicle showed it had tinted windows beyond regulation, the lights of the car painted black and the figures on the licence plate were too small.

Court heard that Futro failed to rectify and produce the car within the 14 day period offered by police.

District Judge banned the defendant from driving for 12 months and fined him £200, along with the offender’s levy of £15.
