Funding evening for marching bands as Arts Council open scheme

Event will be held on September 18

DUP MLA Carla Lockhart is hosting a funding evening for marching bands in the coming weeks.

The Arts Council have opened a scheme to improve music making in the community with this initiative to replace older worn out instruments.

The grants are from £500-£5000 and the purpose of the evening will be to provide more information on this.

The Upper Bann representative will hold the information evening in Brownlow House on Monday 18th September at 7pm for all local bands.

Speaking on the matter Carla Lockhart said: “I am holding this information evening in conjunction with the Ulster Scots Community Network and would welcome representatives from all bands.

“This is part of a funding scheme put in place by the DUP during the last Executive and has already helped many bands defray some of the expense of replacing instruments.

“We have a vibrant and varied selection of marching bands across Northern Ireland and we want to maintain this. I would encourage anyone who is interested to come along and find out how they can apply for a grant.

“I would appreciate if people could advise if they plan to attend by contacting my office on 02838310088.”
