PSNI Craigavon issued an update on an incident they had previously highlighted regarding a drunk man they had encountered.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Another update regarding the drunken male at the centre of incidents in Lurgan town centre recently.
“After his arrest the other night for disorderly behaviour and 2 x assault on police, including spitting at an officer, he was charged and held until court the following day.
“With an early plea, the judge was able to sentence him immediately.
“He’s been sentenced to nine months imprisonment.
“This swift result will ensure a bit of peace and calm in the town centre.
“There are clearly issues at play which need to be addressed long term for the individual, however the need to protect the wider public can’t be ignored and, as this quick result shows, is something we are committed to do.”
