Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project receives £304,605 National Lottery grant

Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project (DDYWP) has been awarded a National Lottery Community Fund grant of £304,605 to support its vital work over the next three years.

The funding will enable the project to engage and empower young people from the Brownlow and north Lurgan areas, providing them with opportunities to develop leadership skills, amplify their voices, and foster a sense of pride and connection to their local communities.

With this significant grant, Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project will offer a range of programmes aimed at addressing the needs and challenges of young people.

These include advocacy workshops, street-based initiatives, mobile youth hubs, and social action events. The programmes are designed to help young people navigate challenges in their lives, influence local policies, and make positive changes in their communities.

Barry McCrory, Chairperson of Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project, expressed his gratitude for the funding and highlighted the importance of the project’s work.

“We are thrilled to receive this generous grant from the National Lottery Community Fund, which will allow us to make a real difference in the lives of young people in our community,” said Barry.

“This funding will help us to engage with young people in a meaningful way, offering them the tools and support they need to navigate challenges, build confidence, and develop leadership skills. Most importantly, it gives young people a platform to use their voices and make a positive impact in their local areas.”

Over the next three years, Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project aims to build on its existing programs to ensure that young people are equipped to face the challenges they encounter in daily life.

The initiative will promote a sense of ownership and pride among the youth, helping them to shape a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project extends its thanks to the National Lottery players, whose contributions have made this grant possible, and looks forward to the positive changes this funding will bring to the Brownlow and north Lurgan areas.
