Drink drive gardener crashed on motorway in ‘morning after night before’ incident

The defendant was in a van which had 'frontal damage' after a single vehicle collision

An over-the-limit motorist crashed on the M1 motorway between Portadown and Lurgan.

Vaidotas Kacerauskas (47), a gardener, of Hillview Terrace, Moy, admitted driving with excess alcohol in breath on July 28 this year.

He had an alcohol in breath reading of 71mcgs – the legal limit is 35mcgs.

A prosecutor told Craigavon Magistrates’ Court the defendant was in a van which had “frontal damage” after a single vehicle collision.

A defence barrister said it was a “morning after the night before” incident.

The defendant was banned from driving for a year and was fined £250.
