Digger set alight in Craigavon prompts building company pullout fears

Meadowbrook in Craigavon

A digger has been set alight on a building site in Craigavon, prompting resident fears that the building company may pull out of the area.

Police are investigating the incident, which occurred on the Tullygally Road last night, Thursday 2 February.

They were alerted to the blaze by the Fire Service at around 11:15pm.

A resident in the area said that the incident was “absolutely disgusting.”

They expressed fears that the building company was considering pulling out of the area in light of the incident, adding: “this area is in desperate need of affordable homes for growing families.”

Inspector Adam Ruston from the PSNI said: “We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area last night or anyone with information regarding this crime. We are especially keen to speak to anyone who may have noticed two individuals dressed in black in the area at the time. Please call 101, quoting reference 2126 02/02/23.”

In October, Armagh I reported proposals laid before ABC Council for a huge multi-million pound residential development in the area.
