Church plans to convert Royal British Legion into new charity shop and cafe

The Christ Encounters Tabernacle was founded in 2017 by Pastor Ken Davidson, former pastor of the Elim Church in Donaghcloney

A County Down church is planning for a number of internal conversions as it aims to launch a new cafe and charity shop.

The Christ Encounters Tabernacle is based at Mill Street in Gilford, Craigavon.

A church which enjoys charitable status, proposals have been drawn up for a change of use at the premises.

It is intended to change the church hall at the rear into a charity shop.

Meanwhile, a lounge area to the front – home of the former Royal British Legion – would be converted into a cafe.

It will, that is, if Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council gives the go-ahead.

The Christ Encounters Tabernacle was founded in 2017 by Pastor Ken Davidson. Having served eight years previously as pastor of the Elim Church in Donaghcloney, he stepped into his own ministry.

The application for change of use will now be advertised shortly.
