Case of man accused of £105,000 cannabis find heading for Crown

A man charged with cultivating cannabis plants worth an estimated ‘£105,000’ at Legahory Court in Craigavon is set to have his case sent to the Crown Court.

Mindaugas Lengvinas (33), with an address listed as no fixed abode in Banbridge but who is originally from Lithuania, is charged in relation to January 24 in 2022.

As well as allegedly cultivating cannabis he is also charged with possessing cannabis with intent to supply; dishonestly using electricity; and possession of a prohibited weapon – pepper spray.

He appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on May 2 via video from prison and was further remanded in custody.

The case was adjourned to May 9 for a preliminary enquiry – the legal step to potentially send the case to the Crown Court.

A co-accused had previously been in court last year and received a jail sentence.

The charges come after cannabis plants worth an estimated ‘£105,000’ were discovered during a search in a property at Legahory Court in 2022.
