Craigavon Court

A man who allegedly assaulted his mother after an argument with his girlfriend has had a bench warrant issued for his arrest.

James Rodgers, 23, of Lagan Terrace, Donaghcloney did not appear in court as he was charged with criminal damage and common assault at Craigavon Magistrates’ on Wednesday.

Court heard that on February 25, at 4.20am, police were called by ambulance staff to the Donaghcloney area to reports of a distressed male.

They stated that he, later identified as the defendant, was unstable.

Officers arrived and spoke to Rodgers’ mother who stated that she had been assaulted by her son during an argument.

She also claimed that the defendant had broken her television during the incident.

Court heard that this had followed an argument Rodgers had with his then-girlfriend.

The court also heard that when interviewed the defendant accepted committing the offences.

District Judge Bernie Kelly ordered a bench warrant to be issued so that Rodgers would appear before the court.
