Almost 3,000 families in borough to see brown bin collection day changed

Move to 'deliver route efficiencies and remove overtime' during peak periods

Almost 3,000 families in the borough could see their brown bin collection date being changed.

The move is part of an exercise aimed at providing better value for money.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has been looking closely at its brown bin collection routes.

Some 3,948 households are being reconfigured as part of this process, the April meeting of council’s environment committee was informed.

The idea is to “deliver route efficiencies and remove overtime incurred during peak organic waste collection times”.

A report to committee explains how it will affect the series.

“As a result, 2891 households will be informed of a new collection day for their brown bin scheme,” it states.

“This information will be delivered to households by in-house staff.

“The information will provide details of collection day change and calendar details.”

Councillors will also be advised in advance of any changes being implemented.

These are expected to be introduced in the coming weeks.
