Little county Armagh baby Alex McCartney has tragically died in hospital.
The eight-month-old boy from Lurgan passed away on Wednesday evening at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
Alex had been on life support following an accident at the family home in Mourneview at the weekend.
The family have been receiving heartfelt sympathies and messages following the tragic news.
One person posted: “So sorry to hear of your loss! Thinking of you and your family! He’s another angel in the sky now.. RIP ALEX.”
Another said: “You are such an inspirational person Jo. Keep strong even on the saddest of days, your baby boy will be proud to look down and say that your his mum.”
A police statement read: “Detectives in E District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of an eight month old baby on 21st January, 2015.
“We can confirm that this is connected to an incident at a house in the Mourneview area of Lurgan on the evening of Saturday 17th January when a baby boy was taken to hospital.
“There are no further details at this stage.”
