Keady Sinn Féin councillor Darren McNally has congratulated Youth Action on their Young Men Talking Week which ran from 3rd – 9th June. He also paid tribute to Keady local Caolan Donnelly who also organised an art camp in conjunction with Keady Youth Club and SELB Youth Service.
Darren McNally said: “The Young Men Talking week is a great opportunity to engage with young males and hear their opinions and experiences. All too often young men are portrayed in a negative way in the media so anything which counteracts this stereotype is to be welcomed.
“I want to especially mention Youth Action’s Michael McKenna who has done an awful lot of work in this area and Caolan Donnelly, a Youth Action volunteer, who used his own initiative to bring the Camp Art caravan on Monday 3rd. I was delighted to get in touch with my creative side but sadly I’m no Picasso!
“I hope that this event is replicated in other areas and that it comes to Keady again next year. Having spoken to participants I know that this was a valuable exercise which the young men really enjoyed.
