Civic Reception requested for Keady Festival organisers

Sinn Féin’s Darren McNally has called for the Mayor of Armagh Council to hold a civic reception for Keady Community Festival Committee, Keady Youth Forum and St Patrick’s Youth Club members following the success of Keady Halloween Festival.

Explaining the request councillor McNally said: “The Halloween Festival in Keady was a huge success with people from far and near travelling to attend.  The festival organisers worked tirelessly to ensure a successful, family oriented event.

“The local Youth Forum staged a Ghost Trail which at times had a queue of 50 people waiting to get in.

“On Halloween night the beacon was lit by committee members assisted by local athlete Paul Hanna who was victorious in the wheel chair element of the Dublin Marathon earlier in the week.  Another local, Philly Gribben provided a fun fair and music which was very well received.

“This festival demonstrates what can be achieved when communities and agencies come together and I thank Armagh Council for their support of this event.”

Assembly member Cathal Boylan added: “I was very impressed with the festival in Keady and I was delighted that it was well supported by the local community.  Many people are already talking about holding the festival again next year and I hope that it becomes an annual event.”
