Children in two Co Armagh Primary Schools, Mountnorris Primary and St Teresa’s Primary were the first to try out the new play park located at the Millennium Hall, Mountnorris.
The £60,000 investment, funded by Armagh City and District Council, was undertaken as a joint initiative with the Trustees of the Millennium Hall.
Lord Mayor Councillor Darryn Causby said: “This play park is a wonderful illustration of how a community working together can secure significant improvements and create a community space which is tailored to their needs.
“Everyone involved in this particular project should be very proud of what they have achieved.”
Equipment in the new play park, which caters for children up to 12 years of age, includes toddlers and junior swings, a roundabout and multi-play climbing units. New seating is also included. Specialist playground equipment company, Crawford Group, supplied and installed the new equipment.
Speaking on behalf of the Millennium Hall, Trustees Maura Glendinning said: “I am delighted to welcome investment and development which the local council has made for the children of the village and surrounding area.”
