Children, 8, find stun gun in Lurgan

POLICE are warning people to avoid suspicious or unknown objects after two children were found playing with a stun gun they discovered in Lurgan.

The children, both aged eight years old, found the weapon under a hedge in the Mourne Road area on Friday before an adults noticed and took it from them.

Police confirmed that it was a rechargeable stun gun and it was disposed off after the incident.

Constable Clements, Craigavon Response, said it was fortunate that no one was injured but the outcome “could have been very different”.

“I would strongly advise any member of the public who comes across an unknown object to notify police immediately so that we can ensure their safety,” he said.

“I would also ask parents to speak to their children and make them aware that they should not touch any item which they cannot identify.”
