Bin collection service changes

RESIDENTS in the Armagh City and District Council area are being reminded that the brown bin lift service has now returned to fortnightly collections.

Armagh Lord Mayor Sharon Haughey-Grimley said: “The return of the brown bin service to a fortnightly collection enables residents to continue recycling and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill. Not only will this benefit the environment, it will also save money.

“Armagh City and District residents are amongst the top recyclers in Northern Ireland, so I urge residents to keep up this great recycling effort.”

The brown bins are for recycling garden and food waste, including meat, fish, gravy and plate scrapings. All food and garden waste are recycled into rich peat-free compost.

Residents without a brown bin collection can avail of a free home composter.

For more information on recycling food and garden waste contact the council recycling helpline on 028 3752 9624 or visit www.amagh.gov.uk.
