**7pm UPDATE: The road has completely reopened.
**5.25PM UPDATE: PSNI have advised that the northbound lane has reopened, however the southbound lane remains closed to traffic at this stage.**
Traffic is at a standstill on the A1 near Camlough this evening due to an road accident.
The road has been closed in both directions close to the Camlough junction.
Motorists are currently sitting in long tailbacks just as rush hour approaches this Friday evening.
Fire and ambulance crews are at the scene assisting with the incident.
The Air Ambulance has been dispatched to the scene.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area this evening.
There is one vehicle involved but it remains unclear how many people were travelling in the car.
