Police on scene after man’s body recovered from Camlough Lake

A man’s body has been recovered from Camlough Lake this evening (Friday).

Emergency services are currently on the scene dealing with the tragic incident, which occurred shortly before 5pm.

Newry & Armagh MP Mickey Brady said the news that the body of a male has been recovered from Camlough Lake is “tragic news” and has “saddened an entire community”.

“Emergency Services have confirmed that the body of a male has been removed from Camlough Lake,” he told Armagh I.

“This news has saddened the entire local community and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased who are trying to come to terms with this tragic news.”

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police received a report of the sudden death of a man at the Newtown Road area of Camlough this afternoon.

“A post mortem is due to take place to determine the cause of death, which is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.”
