Police investigating burglaries in Co Armagh issue description of car

There has been an escalation of incidents in recent weeks

Police investigating a spate of burglaries in Co Armagh have issued a description of a vehicle they would like to trace.

A grey Volkswagen Golf with a black bonnet and a possible English registration plate was spotted in the areas that had homes burgled recently.

Police say the car has been seen in the south Down/south Armagh areas recently.

This information comes after homeowners were being urged to be on the lookout following six break-ins at properties in south Armagh last week.

Four homes and two businesses were targeted by thieves in a crime spree in the Bessbrook area.

“In a matter of hours on Thursday evening past, four homes and two local businesses were broken into,” said Bessbrook councillor Roisin Mulgrew.

She added: “This recent spate of robberies, a carbon copy of the type of attacks on our homes and property that we as a community suffered last year, has caused great concern.”

If you see this vehicle, please call 101 quoting reference 643 01/12/17.

There were also a number of burglaries in the Armagh area earlier this week.

Thieves struck at four separate homes in the space of half a day on Wednesday/Thursday.
