A former Co Armagh village post office could be given a new lease of life.
The now vacant post office premises in Bessbrook have been earmarked for a new hot food takeaway.
The unit is in a listed building at 1 Charlemont Square East in the village.
Now a planning application has been lodged for a change of use.
Two specific applications have been submitted to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
One is to secure listed building consent.
The applicant – Patrick Tiernan – is seeking a change of use to make way for a take-away.
And an apartment at the premises would be sub-divided to provide two apartments.
The changes will be subject to planning approval being given, with the proposal to be publicly advertised this week.
A decision will be expected within the coming months.
