The Southern Trust have helped mark a significant milestone for one of their service users – the 100th birthday of Bessbrook woman Maureen O’Hare.

Maureen, who attends Orchard Day Centre, recently reached this incredible milestone and the staff ensured she had a memorable celebration.

To make the day truly special, Maureen was chauffeured to the day centre in a white limousine by volunteer driver Peter Flood.

A festive tea party was organised with a theme inspired by items and events from 1924, the year Maureen was born, including elements from Alice in Wonderland, music, and historical references.

As part of the festivities, a “This is Your Life” segment was shared and Maureen’s life, stories and artistic talents will be celebrated throughout February with documented memories.

Maureen touched everyone’s hearts by sharing cards and letters from notable figures like the President of Ireland, King Charles III and Pope Francis.

“We are beyond excited to celebrate Maureen’s incredible milestone, we are filled with gratitude and pride for being a part of her life journey” said Brian Beattie, Director of Adult Community Services in the Southern Trust.

In honour of Maureen’s passion for gardening, the Orchard Day Centre staff presented her with a beautiful rose bush named ‘Rhapsody in Blue,’ a fitting tribute for her 100th Birthday.
