Road closure to be put in place during week-long resurfacing scheme in Gilford

Work is due to take place at night-time

Road closures will be in place in Gilford latest this month when a £115,000 resurfacing scheme gets underway.

The work – due to start on Sunday, August 11 – will focus on 400 metres of Mill Street/Dunbarton Street.

The resurfacing should be completed by that Friday, August 16.

The area stretches from the Presbyterian Church on Dunbarton Street to the mini roundabout at the end of Mill Street.

The scheme, the Department says, will deliver significant improvements to both the structural integrity and surface of the road.

Due to the nature of the scheme it will be necessary to operate a road closure on Sunday, August 11, from 7am to 6pm.

Overnight road closures will also be in operation from Monday to Friday  – a total of five nights – from 7pm to 6am.

During these times traffic will be diverted through Tandragee, via High Street, Gilford, Lurgan Road, Moyallen Road, Mullahead Road, Portadown Road, Madden Road and Tandragee Road.

The road will be open to traffic during the day, Monday to Friday, but here may be traffic signals in operation at times as necessitated by the works.

Diversionary routes will be clearly signed and local access for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times during the works.
