Police re-issue appeal following suspected arson attack on car

Police in Lurgan are appealing for information following a suspected arson attack on a car in the Gallows Street area of Dromore at around 11pm on Friday night, February 16, 2018.

Sergeant Downey said: “When police attended the scene, along with the NIFRS, the blaze had been extinguished though the rear of the car suffered extensive damage.

“A rear window of the vehicle was smashed and a bottle containing accelerant thrown in.

“Two males were seen beside the vehicle just before the fire started. They were described as being of medium build and were wearing T-shirt and baseball caps.

“It is believed they may have gotten into a silver Vauxhall Corsa and drove off in the direction of Maypole Hill and the town centre.

“We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or a vehicle matching this description around this time, to contact police in Lurgan on the non-emergency number quoting reference 1437 of 16/2/18.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
