Police officer injured after car drives through checkpoint

Police later received a call that a black Ford Mondeo was on fire

A police officer needed hospital treatment after being struck by a car that failed to stop at a checkpoint.

The incident happened on Saturday, March 25 around 8.30pm on Peggy’s Loaning, Banbridge.

A police spokesperson said: “Whilst there we attempted to stop a dark coloured Ford Mondeo bearing Republic of Ireland number plates.
