The A1 southbound has been reduced to a single lane.
The closure has been put in place south of Loughbrickland, close to the Annaghbane Road junction.
Police were forced to take action due to a slurry spill.
“Motorists are advised to reduce their speed and expect delays in the area,” said a PSNI spokesperson.
