Pedestrian taken to Craigavon hospital after collision in centre of Banbridge

One person has been rushed to hospital following a collision in the centre of Banbridge earlier this evening (Saturday).

The collision involved a car and a pedestrian and a car on Newry Street at around 5pm.

Police closed a section of the centre of town off – namely Bridge Street and Newry Street – as emergency crews dealt with the situation.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 5pm on Saturday following reports of a road traffic incident involving a car and pedestrian on Newry Street, Banbridge.

“NIAS despatched one emergency crew to the incident.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital.”
