Seven Stars Loughbrickland

One of the borough’s most popular bars and restaurants has been put on the market as a result of the planned retirement of the owners.

The Seven Stars, at Main Street in Loughbrickland, is a popular port of call with locals and visitors over a wide area.

Now the local hostelry – which boasts a bar, off-licence and 80-seat restaurant – is on the market.

It has been under the present ownership for over half a century and will be business as usual under its current owners if and when it is sold.

Newry-based agent Charles Digney Property has been tasked with selling the two-storey building, which also includes “spacious” three-bedroom accommodation on the first floor.

Described as a “popular, well-renowned hospitality business”, the Seven Stars has an average 4-star review rating on Tripadvisor and 5-star rating on Facebook.

According to the agent, it is “for sale due to retirement after over 50 years in present ownership”.

The marketing materials advise: “The property itself commands a dominant position in the centre of the village, and benefits from significant passing trade. The property is set on two levels: on the ground floor, a large 80 seat restaurant; front bar; off licence; kitchen; storage and ancillary rooms. On the first floor, spacious 3 three bedroom living accommodation and balcony area. To the rear of the property is a private mature garden, and external stores.

“This is a unique and exceptional opportunity to acquire an extensive property and business, with excellent reputation and existing customer base.

“Loughbrickland is an area undergoing significant development, with a new school shortly opening; new housing and redevelopment in the village; and a location at a crossroads between key cities. “These present opportunities to further diversify and expanding the offering of the Seven Stars.”

The restaurant – laid out for 80 diners – is described as “spacious and brimming with character”.

The restaurant boosts busy trade on both weekdays and weekends, with a particular reputation for its steaks!,” adds the agent.

Both the restaurant and bar have separate toilet provision.

The bar is accessed separately to the restaurant from the front of the building, with an off-licence attached.

“Traditional in form and decoration, the bar offers good trade, and the potential for further diversification to take advantage of growing activity in the village – e.g. conversion to a café,” the property agent states.

Meanwhile, a “mature and private garden” to the rear of the Seven Stars “may be suitable for numerous uses including hospitality”.

No price has been provided relating to the proposed sale of the property, but appointments can be made to view and discuss via Charles Digney Property.
