Public address system are to be installed in Banbridge and Dromore.

Funding to the tune of £60,000 has been provided by the Department for Communities.

It has been earmarked for the purchase and installation of the PA systems.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s regeneration committee has been told that neither Banbridge nor Dromore currently has a public address system.

An update was provided via report to the last committee meeting which highlighted the need and intentions behind such facilities.

It said: “The works will provide a high-quality public outdoor speaker system.

“It is hoped that the system will have a significant impact on the ambience of both Banbridge and Dromore town centres.

“The proposed speaker system will be zoned allowing events or music to be focused in specific areas of the town centres.”

The council is now looking to source a supplier.
