A motorist in Dromore has been caught driving at over four times the legal drink drive limit.
It happened at 1pm this afternoon (Thursday) when police from Lurgan were called to a road-traffic collision on Market Square in the Co. Down town.
The driver was asked to conduct a preliminary breath test, which returned a reading of 141 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit in Northern Ireland is 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
A police spokesperson commented: “This is four times the legal limit. This level of intoxication puts other road users and pedestrians at severe risk. The driver has been arrested and can expect a day in court soon.
“This month officers are focusing on the Fatal Five causation factors of road-traffic collisions. There is no excuse for drink driving and officers will be conducting multiple checks across the District.”
