Man to appear in court after large amount of cannabis and cash found in car

A man is due to appear in court after police found a large amount of suspected cannabis and cash following a stop and search over the weekend.

Officers from Lurgan A section were on proactive patrol in the Loughbrickland area during the early hours of Sunday, May 21 when they had cause to stop a car that passed them.

As a result one man was arrested on suspicion of Possession of Class B Drugs, Possession of Class B Drugs with intent to supply and Possession of Criminal Property.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before Banbridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 15.

As is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

A police spokesperson said: “Your local police teams will continue to target drug dealers in the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon areas, however we work best when the public work with us.
