Man arrested after house set on fire in Banbridge

He has been released on bail

A 43-year-old man has been arrested after a report of arson on a property in the Ballygowan Park area of Banbridge on Thursday.

At around 11:15pm, it was reported that a house in the area was set alight causing damage to the property.

No one was inside the house at the time of the incident.

Detective Sergeant Wilson said: “The man was arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life with intent and other offences and has been released on bail in relation to this incident.

“Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1902 of 05/11/20.

“You can also submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
