Investigation launched after petrol bomb thrown into parked BMW X5

Police are keen to speak with two men described as being in their 20s

An investigation has been launched after a petrol bomb was thrown into a parked car in Dromore last night.

Police received the report of a car on fire in the Gallows Street area of the town around 11pm last night, Friday 16 February.

Sergeant Downey said: “We believe that a petrol bomb was thrown into a grey BMW X5 that was parked in the area.

“The NIFRS attended and extinguished the fire that started inside the vehicle.

“There was internal scorch damage to the car but no-one was injured in the incident.

“We would like to speak to two men who are described as being in their 20s, of medium build and wearing tee-shirts and baseball caps, who got into a silver Vauxhall Corsa car that was then seen leaving the area at speed around the time of the incident.

“The registration plate of the vehicle is thought to be English and starting with the letters MW or WM.

“Anyone who saw a vehicle matching this description or has any information that could help our investigation into this incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1437 of 16/2/18.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
