Intruder attacks man with bat during aggravated burglary at his home

Incident happened during early hours of Sunday morning

A man was attacked with a bat by an intruder during an aggravated burglary at his Banbridge home.

The incident happened during the early hours of yesterday (Sunday) morning in the Millvale close area.

Detectives are appealing for information on the incident, which happened at around 2am.

The male occupant of the house was assaulted by the intruder.

Detective Sergeant Wilson said: “The man sustained a cut to the side of his head and was taken to hospital for treatment to his injury.

“We are appealing to anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area around that time, to contact us on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 800 of 05/05/19.

“Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
