Family home and motorhome gutted in major blaze in Banbridge

One person treated on scene for slight burns

A family’s home and motorhome have been destroyed in a major blaze in Banbridge.

It happened in the Weavers Meadow development, in the Lurgan Road area of the town.

The fire started in the motorhome and from there spread to the garage of the property, before flames took hold of the house itself.

In all five pumps were utilised in tackling the blaze, which was reported shortly before 8pm tonight (Thursday).

Close to 30 firefighters were involved in the operation, the first arriving on scene just four minutes after the alarm was raised.

It has emerged that one person was treated at the scene for slight burns.

The fire has now been extinguished but the property has been gutted, it has been confirmed.
